Rite Aid BANNED from Using Facial Recognition Tech for 5 Years

Rite Aid has been BANNED from using facial recognition technology for 5 years!

I’m Tomi Lahren, more next.

Theft, especially from drug and convenience stores, has been a growing problem around the country and now one retailer will have one less tool to fight it, facial recognition technology.

Yep, the FTC has banned Rite Aid from using the technology for 5 years after allegations the chain was used incorrectly to ID shoplifters, many of whom happened to be people of color as well as female shoppers.

In federal court, the FTC alleged the drugstore chain utilized facial recognition tech that led to thousands of false matches. Rite Aid customers were also unaware the technology was being applied to them.

Look, faulty technology isn’t helpful to anyone involved BUT can you blame retailers for trying to fight back against repeat shoplifters?!

The government has FAILED these businesses by allowing thugs and degenerates to target them over and over again with little to no repercussions!

I feel for these stores. They’ve been left defenseless and now Rite Aid has one less tool on the table.
