Florida Republican Congressman Byron Donalds joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to share his thoughts on Tuesday’s vote to remove Kevin McCarthy from his position of House Speaker.
“I don’t think the motion to vacate should have been used. But it was. And now we are where we are. And, you know, I do want to say this is a credit to Kevin McCarthy. You know, he looked at the lay of the land, realized there was no pathway forward for him. And instead of trying to, you know, stay in the fight when it was just clear to him that the votes weren’t there, he did the right thing. It was a tough job on him. The margin for success was very narrow. I think obviously you can go back and say there were certain play calls he shouldn’t have done. Everybody can do that. But at the end of the day, I think he tried he did the best that he could. Now, we got to go find the new speaker and we’re actually in the middle of that right now.”
Rep. Donalds also talks about how it was a mistake for McCarthy to believe Democratic lawmakers would help save his speakership. Listen to the podcast to hear what else he had to say!
