Florida Governor and 2024 GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla explain why he believes there should be term limits for members of Congress.
“You know, it was interesting. I’ve been in New York this week. We were at the Ground Zero Remembrance, and I’ve done some other stuff. I stopped to see Cardinal Dolan in New York City and I was asking him, you know, what’s your trajectory after this? And he’s like, well, when you’re 75, they make you retire. And I told him, I was like, you can launch a presidential campaign right after that. Right? That seems to be what’s going on. I’ll tell you what, I think that, you know, when you look and see Nancy Pelosi’s doubling down for another term, we really do need term limits for members of Congress. I mean, this is just getting ridiculous when these people are there for 30 or 40 years. You look at how the country is descending, particularly our insolvency. And these guys have had the wheel for how many decades? I think it’s time to pass the torch.”
Governor DeSantis also talks about how he is uniquely qualified to be the next Commander in Chief, compared to other candidates in the 2024 presidential race.
“Well, you know, it’s an interesting world we live in. That’s all I can say. I mean, there’s a lot of things we need to clean up in this government for sure. And I will clean up the DOJ and the FBI. I’m also the only one running in either party that’s actually served in uniform. And it was something that when I was at the 9/11 Remembrance of Families, a bunch of the families invited my wife and I. We went around and visited the names that were etched in the museum and everything. And I was, you know, not affected by it directly. I didn’t have friends or family that died there, but that was one of the reasons why I ended up joining the military. So it changed the trajectory of my life and I ended up serving in Iraq and all this And as the president elected in 2024, I’d be the first president elected who served in a war since 1988. It used to be that was a pretty standard thing with presidents. We’ve been a generation removed from having one.”
