With the first 2024 Republican presidential debate behind us, the question that remains is: has the political landscape shifted? The GOP contenders traded barbs in Milwaukee, and many have singled out former Governor Nikki Haley and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy for memorable appearances, but now it is up to American voters to react with fundraising dollars and polling. Meanwhile, on Thursday night, former President Trump turned himself in at an Atlanta jail for his RICO indictment in the Georgia election interference case. FOX News Sunday anchor Shannon Bream joins the Rundown to unpack the candidates’ debate performances and stark division on key issues such as Ukraine funding, abortion, and the economy.

Almost five months after his arrest, Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich finds himself serving even more time behind bars. On Thursday, a Moscow court announced the American journalist’s pre-trial detention had been extended for a second time, forcing him to stay in one of Russia’s most brutal prisons until at least the end of November. Gershkovich was originally arrested in March for espionage, which both the WSJ and the Biden administration vehemently deny. Wall Street Journal Washington bureau chief Paul Beckett joins the Rundown to discuss the possibility of the country participating in yet another prisoner swap, how Gershkovich is staying in touch with the U.S., and the pattern of hostility he is seeing from the Russian government.

Plus, commentary by former Congressman Jason Chaffetz, host of the Jason in the House podcast.
