The Iowa State Fair has long served as a proving ground for presidential candidates to introduce themselves to primary voters and shake up the race. Last week, disaster struck in Hawaii resulting in the deadliest wildfires in American history. Now, the Maui community of Lahaina has been almost entirely destroyed by the blaze. The emergency response to this crisis from the federal government has been criticized as slow however local Hawaiians are banding together to help take care of their own. Lahaina resident and co-founder of Great Forest Ministry Non-Profit, Ryan Valliere had his home decimated by the wildfires but with the help of his ministry he is working to get those in the community necessary funds to survive.
