Earlier this week travelers were left scrambling in airports across the country as weather delays and staff shortages left many unable to make it to their destinations. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says to expect major delays during the holiday weekend as it is projected to be the busiest day for air travel since the start of the pandemic. Michael Boyd, President & CEO of Boyd Group International Group, joins the Rundown to discuss why airlines are continuing to face major meltdowns, the technical impacts that 5G cell towers will have on airplanes, and why the government continues to ignore concerns presented by airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration.

President Biden has been touting his economic accomplishments on the road, saying, “Made in America is not a slogan. It’s actually happening.” This is a policy priority that President Biden and former President Trump actually agree on, but they do disagree on who has had more success bringing key factories and products like semiconductor chips back to the United States. Right now, the nation’s main manufacturing competitor is China–a country with whom the U.S. has had tense relations recently. Former President Trump’s U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer joins the Rundown to explain how allowing China to heavily profit from U.S. business is weakening America, why we must  ‘strategically decouple’ from China carefully to avoid negative impacts on the economy, and the reasons he’s a strong supporter of the CHIPS and Science Act.
