Former Speaker of the House and Fox News contributor Newt Gingrich joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain why he believes former President Trump still has a good chance of securing the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, despite the growing number of Republican candidates who have entered the race.
“I think on the Republican side, it’s not complicated. Think of it as a two-lake competition. There’s a big lake, which in the latest polls, 53 percent, that’s Donald Trump. There’s a smaller lake, which is about 40 percent. That’s everybody who’s not Trump. Unless somebody in the non-Trump lake figures out how to drain the Trump lake, he wins. It’s just not complicated. And I guarantee you, every time somebody new announces, they pop champagne down at Mar-a-Lago. I mean, they want about 20 people in the non-Trump lake chasing around each other. And I think the biggest story this spring has been that Ron DeSantis, who’s a great governor of Florida, he has done an amazing job in Florida, he was not able to clear the field. He wanted to be one of two. Well now, he’s about to become one of many.”
