Co-host of “Outnumbered” Emily Compagno joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to discuss the latest case she delves into on “The Fox True Crime Podcast”.
“I talk with a former federal prosecutor who’s still an attorney. He was a state prosecutor. But he prosecuted the federal case of Jorge Avila-Torrez. And what was fascinating about that case is essentially, long story short, a poor woman was murdered who had been serving in the military. Before that, two young girls were brutally murdered in Illinois. And it wasn’t until, however, that Jorge Avila-TorrezĀ was arrested and charged with attempted assault of two young women in Virginia that DNA linked him to all of those crimes. And the interesting part is that in that particular state at the time, they only collected DNA before he was convicted it was upon arrest. And that was novel at the time. So think about like a once in a lifetime thing that happens, a very rare thing that happens that all of a sudden blows wide open a series of cases and you realize you don’t have an attempted assaulter on your hands, you have a serial killer. What happens next is unbelievable, as told through the mouth and the experience of the federal prosecutor. It’s amazing. You don’t want to miss it.”
