Retired NYPD inspector Paul Mauro joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain what’s happening with the two New York residents who were arrested Monday for allegedly running an undisclosed Chinese government police station in Manhattan’s Chinatown neighborhood.
“In all honesty, this is not as unusual as people might think. This has been going on a good long time. It’s a little bit of a misnomer. They don’t have a separate police system set up here for expats or anything like that. What’s going on is that the Chinese have people overseas that work for their government who are here to keep an eye on expat Chinese to make sure that they sort of toe the line and their leverage is relatives back home. That’s generally what they use. So if you have relatives back in Shanghai, Beijing or wherever, and you’re overseas and you’re not doing exactly what they would like you to do, or if you’re getting a little too mouthy, anti-regime, you know you’re going to be told shape up or there could be problems back on the home front.”
Paul also gives his take on Monday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing in Manhattan, which was focused on the soft-on-crime policies of District Attorney Alvin Bragg. To hear what else he had to say, listen to the podcast!
