Former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Andy McCarthy joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain why the spectacle of having former President Trump go through criminal proceedings is more important for liberals than whether Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg actually gets a conviction.
“The thing is, just because this is politically motivated doesn’t mean there’s one political motivation. So, like the Democratic Party has one set of motives and all these ambitious prosecutors. I was one once so I can speak to this. You know, they have their motives. But the thing is, Bragg’s motives aren’t necessarily the same as the Democratic Party writ large because he got elected by these progressive Democrats in New York whose thing is, they want Trump prosecuted. They don’t even really care I don’t think that much how the case comes out. I mean, they obviously want him convicted, but they want the process used against him. That’s what Bragg promised them. So even if it hurts some other cases, it helps Bragg politically with the people he’s trying to please.”
Andy also shares his thoughts on why former Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance ended up passing on this case. To hear what else he had to say, listen to the podcast!
