Former Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to share his thoughts on a Manhattan grand jury’s decision to indict former President Trump, and why he believes this case should not have been pursued by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
“First and foremost, your job as a prosecutor, and this gets drilled in you when you’re young prosecutor, is to do justice. And you’re never ethically supposed to bring a case unless you have a reasonable likelihood of conviction. And so I used to always tell folks that if you’re going after a judge or an elected statewide official or a member of Congress, then you better have like video or audio or in the old days you could say priest, but now their credibility isn’t always that good. But you need credible witnesses because people will automatically assume, because I prosecuted elected officials, people automatically will say, oh my gosh, this is political in nature. They’re doing it for political reasons. And Bragg has the extra baggage of having gone out and said that he was going to go after Trump. And so I think there’s a lot of ethical issues and there’s a lot of practical issues. And quite frankly, most of my career was in as a prosecutor, but as a defense attorney, this is going to be like a dog on a bone. There is so much to work with here.”
