Free Condoms in France?

French President Macron calls it “a small revolution in preventative healthcare.”

Find out what he’s giving free to young people, next.

As of the New Year, anyone under the age of 26 will now have access to free condoms in French pharmacies and that’s not all, emergency contraception will also be free and available to all women without a prescription.

The French president has yet to clarify if that extends to non-binary persons or just biological females but nevertheless, this is a bold step.

This strategy aims to reduce STDs in the young French population- as the rate of those diseases have skyrocketed by about 30% in the last couple years.

And though the free-for-all condom giveaway was initially for those 18-25, it’s now open to anyone under 26, minors included.

Now look, I’m not saying this is a bad step. Preventative measures always beat the alternative but opening up the age bracket to include minors is a little concerning.

Ya gotta wonder, where are the parents and do they know or care?

This is all part of the global conversation on making parents, parents again!
