Mark Morgan: There’s No Downside To Securing Our Southern Border
Former Acting Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan joins Fox Across America With guest host Harry Hurley to explain why the crisis at the U.S. Southern border is about to get even worse in 2023, regardless of whether Title 42 remains in place.
“Even if Title 42 stays in place, because what we’re talking about is degree of crisis, so even with Title 42 in place the last 60 days, the first 60 days in this fiscal year, October and November, we already saw over 500,000 total encounters and 160,000 gotaways. So even if Title 42 stays in place for the next 12 months, we’re going to see at this pace over 3 million total encounters and over a million gotaways in 12 months. And so if Title 42 goes away, yeah, we’ll add another million or so. But again, even if Title 42 stays in place, we’re still involved in an unsustainable crisis now. And that’s the point. And the other part too, is why they kind of gave Biden a little bit of a victory here is, Title 42, It’s not a border security policy. It’s not even an illegal immigration policy. Again, it’s a public health tool. And so you’ve got some Republicans that are on the wrong side of this as well. I mean, I even heard some Republicans, they’re saying, hey, we’ll trade keeping Title 42 for some amnesty. No, Title 42 is not a tradeoff. It’s not a border security tool.”
Mark also talks about how the Biden administration’s opposition to putting up a Southern border wall is completely illogical. Listen to the podcast to hear what else he had to say!
