Matt McDonald: The Twitter Files Show How The Government Outsourced Its Censorship In 2020

U.S. Managing Editor of The Spectator Matt McDonald joins Fox Across America With guest host Ben Domench to shed light on why people should be concerned about the communication between Twitter and the FBI in the weeks leading up to the 2020 presidential election.

“Given the fact that it’s tech and not media, that throws up a whole different kind of dynamic here because in communist Russia, say, you’ve got like the state newspaper Pravda, which is controlled by the Russian Communist Party. And therefor, you know that there’s censorship is going on and you know, there’s propaganda. But here, the relationship between the security state and Big Tech, it’s with Big Tech and not with the media. And therefor, many of these tech companies have fought for the last 20 years or so to not be treated like the media and to have protection under Section 230, which is basically saying, you know, the tech companies like Facebook and Twitter are not responsible for things posted on their platforms because they are not publishers. But then if they are making editorial decisions at the behest of government agencies, that raises all these questions up again. And I think potentially it’s the kind of thing which House committees are going to start to look to when the House changes hands next year.”
