Do You Use Screens to Calm Your Kids?

According to a new study the modern parenting technique of using devices to calm children could really backfire.

I’m Tomi Lahren, find out next.

It’s all the rage with parents these days, using screens, tech and devices to calm children and quiet them down.

Well parents be warned, new research out of the University of Michigan shows this technique could actually lead to WORSE behavior down the road.

The study found that using smart phones and devices to soothe children ages 3-5 was associated with increased emotional dysregulation, particularly in boys.

The lead author of the research concluded that, “devices may displace opportunities for development of independent and alternative methods to self-regulate.”

This can include rapid shifts between sadness and excitement, a sudden change in mood or feelings and heightened impulsivity.

Parents, I’m sure it’s tempting to use technology as an easy babysitting strategy but it’s not worth it!

Furthermore, we don’t need a study to tell us that the lack of ACTIVE parenting in modern society is to blame for MANY of the problems we face.

Put down the screens, get some fresh air, and make parenting great again!
