P22 Mountain Lion

A beloved wild mountain in Southern California is not doing so hot and it breaks my heart.

They call him “P22”- a now famous mountain lion that roams the Hollywood area.

After killing a leashed dog, P22 was captured and tranquilized. Due to some concerns about his behavior he will likely not be released back into the wild.

Wildlife care experts had a chance to examine this big cat and discovered he is drastically underweight and may have been struck by a car at some point.

And now P22’s future is unknown. He will either be sent to an animal sanctuary or euthanized- a thought that breaks every animal lover’s heart.

I get that these big cats can be intimidating and dangerous for family pets, but the fact that P22 is severely malnourished just goes to show that food pickens are slim for wildlife in the ever-growing and increasingly urbanized LA area.

What are these animals supposed to do? Where are they supposed to go? I’m no environmentalist but gosh darn it, I feel for these animals who are having their habitats stolen from them.
