Remembering September 11th

21 years ago, in the wake of one of America’s greatest tragedies, Americans came together.

I’m Tomi Lahren, more next.

September 11th, 2001 and the days and weeks that followed were steeped in great national tragedy we will never forget.

Lives lost, destruction, chaos, anger- it consumed us, changed us, and changed our nation forevermore.

But there was something beautiful that came out of great pain, and that was pride, patriotism, and love of country.

I was only in the 4th grade at the time, but old enough to understand what I meant to be an American in the days, weeks and months following the terror attacks of September 11th.

We weren’t white, black, or brown, we weren’t Republicans or Democrats, we weren’t he/hims, she/hers or they/thems, we were AMERICANS one and all.

And as a nation, we came together under that flag, that anthem and that horrific tragedy that bonded us all- from ground zero in New York City all the way to rural South Dakota and everywhere in between.

We also had a deep respect for our law enforcement officers who rushed TOWARDS danger as everyone rushed away.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get back to all of that, without the tragedy of a mass terror attack?
