White House On Defense Over Student Debt Forgiveness
Following through on a campaign promise, President Biden announced Wednesday that he would be forgiving $10,000 of federal student loan debt for borrowers earning less than $125,000 annually. With the Biden administration’s approval rating suffering in recent months due to high inflation, many wonder how the loan forgiveness will impact the country’s debt. Jared Bernstein is a member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. He joins the Rundown to discuss the impact debt forgiveness may have on inflation in this country, concerns over fairness to taxpayers, and questions about the rising costs of higher education in America.
