This month marks a year since the United States withdrew from Afghanistan. Ever since the Taliban seized control of Kabul, the Afghan economy has collapsed, women have been forced to cover themselves in public, and the majority of young girls have been barred from receiving secondary education.
A few days ago, Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), who served in Afghanistan, joined the Rundown’s Dave Anthony to discuss the shortcomings of the US withdrawal and the ongoing threat of Al Qaeda that America continues to face today.
Rep. Waltz also discusses the status of legislation he is working on to help Afghans who fought alongside Americans be able to stay in the U.S. and be protected against Taliban threats.
