Morgan Ortagus: Pelosi’s Trip To Taiwan Should Never Have Been Talked About In Advance
Listen To The Full Interview Below:
Morgan Ortagus former spokesperson for the United States Department of state joined the Guy Benson Show to discuss the push back from China over House Speaker Nancy’s Pelosi’s now public visit to Taiwan.
Ortagus blasted the Biden administration’s handling of the upcoming visit saying,
“It never should have been talked about in advance. It is way, way, way too sensitive and precarious of the situation. So we sent administration officials to Taiwan during the Trump years. And and when we did that, we cut off all press before and even during the trip, much to the chagrin of some of my senior officials who wanted to meet me there. And I said, absolutely not. Just being there is the statement that we need to make. So it’s very unfortunate that this got leaked.”
Ortagus added,
“It’s really much more dangerous in my estimate. You know, Biden and his loose lips are really harming national security. And that’s not something that I say lightly, guy. You know me, I’m not hyperbolic. The fact that Biden admitted that there are internal deliberations inside the government, that the military doesn’t want Pelosi to go, well, that’s a big problem to discuss publicly. We should never be discussing our internal security deliberations because now, Guy, we have a problem that if she doesn’t go, it looks like we back down. If she does go, the Chinese are going to feel like, well, now they’re out on a limb, like we back them into a corner by talking about it publicly. So the best thing would have been for her to show up for there have been no press.”
