“This president has not shown any signs that he’s going to change the course that he’s on, which is a course of lawlessness and chaos. He’s placating to the open border Leftist radicals, and Texas and border states are suffering for it, and our entire country is suffering. And so, we’ve introduced legislation. We’ve signed onto legislation. We’ve written letters. But this president is unrelenting and this crisis is unmitigated and only getting worse. So you look at the Constitution, it’s very clear and plainly written. When the federal government abandons its citizens and states like Texas, when they do not make good on the guarantee to protect against an invasion, the states retain the sovereignty of self-defense. And that’s really the basic principle we’re talking about.”
