John Rich & Jody Barrett: The Importance Of Getting Involved In Local Politics And Making Sure Your Voice Is Heard
Country music star and host of “The Pursuit” on Fox Nation John Rich joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain why he’s supporting Jody Barrett in his bid to become a Tennessee State Representative in the 69th District.
“Listen, I’ve known Jody my entire adult life. We met my senior year in high school. I’ve watched this guy build a family, build a business, and he’s exactly right. He’s a quiet guy. He just works really hard. But as we were talking one day and I said, Jody, even in the conservative state of Tennessee, look at the things that are going on, especially in our schools and with our kids. And Jody said, I’m right there with you, man. I said, we need people to stand up and go forward and move. And Jody goes, you know what? I think I’m going to do it. I said, you’re going to do what? He goes, I think I’m going to run for my district. And how important is it for Americans right now to run on state and local levels. We cannot trust the federal government. We don’t want the federal government coming into our counties and our towns shoving us around. We have to take some authority at the local level. And so for Jody to step out of the private sector, never been a politician and go out here and do this job. He’s a patriot.”
Jody talks about what prompted him to get involved in politics following a career in the private sector.
“You know, most of us in life start off just trying to build a career and you keep your head down, nose to the grindstone and try to keep a low profile, do whatever you can to build your little nest egg. And eventually we get to the point where things are going on around us and we can’t ignore it anymore and we just feel like we have to stand up and do something.”
