China and Russia are as close as they have ever been with Beijing specifically telling news agencies to not demean Russia’s actions in Ukraine but that may have changed after a Chinese military veteran has criticized the invasion. Meanwhile, President Biden, speaking in Japan, said that the United States would defend Taiwan militarily if China attacked them.
