Brit Hume, senior political analyst for Fox News Channel joined the Guy Benson Show to discuss a pair of upcoming Republican primary races and what factor former President Trump will play in the 2022 midterm elections.

Hume questioned Trump’s grip on the Republican party by saying,

“I think it is loosening, the number I would cite on that is a number that is. There’s a poll. It’s been taken. Several times of questions have been asked several times of Republican voters, which is, do you consider yourself more a supporter of Donald Trump or a supporter of the Republican Party? And for quite a number of polls, the answer came back distinct majority who said they were supporters of Donald Trump. That has now flipped. And by something like a 20 point margin, respondents on that poll said they would support the Republican Party more than supporters of Donald Trump. That doesn’t mean that Trump’s influence has vanished. It hasn’t, but it does mean that it may well have weakened. And after we’ve got the results of this whole range of primary contests across the country, and we see how the Trump backed nominees or Trump backed candidates do, we’ll have a better sense of that.”
