Dr. Nicole Saphier: A Universal Recommendation On A Fourth Dose Of The COVID Vaccine Makes No Sense

Board-certified radiologist and Fox News Medical contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to react to Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla saying a fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be necessary.

“For those people who are young and healthy, for vaccinated or have already recovered from COVID-19, have some level of immunity, they don’t have risk factors, they probably won’t benefit much from a fourth dose, in the face of Omicron and most likely from future variants. Now, Pfizer is working on a couple of things right now. One, they’re going to release data to show that fourth dose may be necessary. Do I think that it should be recommended in all comers? I don’t. I really don’t. I think the benefit of it is very low. Yes, they demonstrate that you get a boost in your antibodies, but it quickly wanes and its ability to prevent infection and therefore prevent transmission is very low and drops quickly. So no, it doesn’t make sense to have a universal recommendation for that. Should it be targeted for the elderly and immunocompromised? Yes. These are our highest, most vulnerable population. Do what you can to protect them. Now what Pfizer is also working on, they’re also working on an updated vaccine that is a little bit more. It has the original strain, but it also has some of the mutations of Omicron, and hopefully it’ll provide more protection against severe disease as well as infection. And that can be expected in a little bit more time.”

Plus, Dr. Saphier sheds light on how coronavirus-related mandates have negatively impacted our nation’s children, especially when it comes to their education.
