Rep. Kat Cammack: Why Congress Must Take Action To Address The Fentanyl Crisis In The U.S.
Florida Republican Congresswoman Kat Cammack joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to bring attention to the fentanyl crisis plaguing communities throughout the country.
Earlier this month, House Democrats blocked the “HALT Fentanyl Act”, which would have given the lethal drug a permanent classification under Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. According to Rep. Cammack, this is a bipartisan issue that Congress has to deal with immediately.
“There are issues that we can come together as Americans, not Republicans vs. Democrats but Americans. I thought for sure the HALT Fentanyl Act, which does exactly what the title says that it would do, you would think that Democrats would want to get on board with it. But alas, not a single Democrat voted for it. That to me is crazy. You have over 100,000 people that died last year from overdoses. My husband’s a first responder. He sees overdoses every single day that he’s on shift. It doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t matter what race you are, what gender you are, how old you are, what socioeconomic class you associate with, it does not discriminate. The common thread here is it’s all coming through our open border, unchecked, unfettered, and the raw materials are coming from China.”
Rep. Cammack also shares her thoughts on the Biden administration’s reported plan which would use funding to distribute crack pipes to drug addicts.
