Thomas Joscelyn, Senior Editor Long War Journal, spoke to Brian Kilmeade about the continued fallout from the Afghanistan withdrawal. Joscelyn says while President Trump does deserve a share of the blame for what has happened it doesn’t excuse all the problems from the Biden Administration. Joscelyn believes once President Biden announced in April we were going to leave he should have immediately moved to get Americans and Afghans who helped us out. Joscelyn says Secretary Blinken’s testimony on the Taliban committing they won’t allow al-Qaida to have a safe haven shows complete ignorance because al-Qaida helped the Taliban win the war. Joscelyn also points to the Taliban releasing a video that glorified the 9/11 attacks that said America deserved it and how Secretary Blinken prattling on about the Taliban’s supposed counterterrorism commitment shows gross failure of American leadership that has been going on for many years. Joscelyn also took issue with senior military leadership for the failure in Afghanistan. Joscelyn believes they lost the war and didn’t know what they were doing. Joscelyn says with the challenges we face from China, Russia and others, he doesn’t trust senior military leadership to take on those challenges given how they didn’t know how to defeat the Taliban.
