On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, “Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace discussed his new book Countdown bin Laden: The Untold Story of the 247-Day Hunt to Bring the Mastermind of 9/11 to Justice and what has changed and what hasn’t to the United States ad Afghanistan since 9/11.

“It never occurred to me that the group, the thugs, the gang that was in charge of al-Qaida on 9/11, the Taliban, would be in charge of Afghanistan in 2021. I think there are two points. One, as bad as our exit was, the fact is we did a lot of good things in Afghanistan in these 20 years. It was not a waste of time, money or most importantly, the blood of our American men and women. And the biggest and the best thing we did is we got bin Laden, we decapitated al-Qaida, and we protected the homeland from an attack from Afghanistan for 20 years. That’s not nothing. And the second thing is, as screwed up as our exit was from our retreat from Afghanistan here, this is a case study, the bin Laden raid, of the intel community, our political leaders and our military working together, no ego, no turf, working together flawlessly and effectively pulled off one of the great commando missions of all time.”
