Trey Gowdy: “In The Pantheon Of Stupid Political Ideas, Defunding The Police Is At The Top Of That Mountain”
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, “Sunday Night In America” host Trey Gowdy explains why Democrats are making a mistake by thinking defunding the police is a winning issue heading into the 2022 mid-terms.
“In the Pantheon of stupid political ideas, advocating for defunding the police is at the top of that mountain. So what’s in their hearts and souls, I do not know. But what is in their mathematical abilities and knowing that they’re going to lose the House, they may lose the Senate if they persist. The border’s a wreck, it looks like COVID is not in the rearview mirror and violent crime is spiraling out of control. And communities that were promised, if we just hire more social workers and psychologists, you’re going to be safer. That’s a recipe for losing. So whether or not they really have had an epiphany as it relates to law enforcement, I cannot judge their souls. But they’re not stupid politicians and they’re going to get washed out if they keep letting the Cori Bushes of the world speak for their party.”
“If you really believe that defunding law enforcement makes your constituents safer, then you should do it for yourself. So don’t call yourself a member of the Progressive Party, just call yourself a member of the Hypocrite Party, because that’s what it is. It’s hypocrisy.”
