Rep. Jim Jordan: Athletes Like Gwen Berry Are Being Taught “You Should Hate Your Country”
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) responded to the controversy over track and field athlete Gwen Berry snubbing the national anthem at the US Olympic trials and said this kind of hatred for America and its values are being taught in schools and other places.
“You’re going along with the ‘woke’ crowd instead of standing up and honoring your country that gave you the opportunity to to have the goal and make it happen. I don’t get it. This is why this whole critical race theory stuff is so ridiculous and so important that we stop it. My guess is the people who do this, this athlete this weekend, my guess is she probably got taught this stuff in school. I mean, there are implications when you teach that you should hate your country, the country is not great. We now have it being done in the military. So we’re telling young men who are going to put their lives on the line for their country, by the way, during your training, we’re going to tell you that your country is bad and then they’re going to go put their life on the line for the country? It makes no stinking sense. And it’s something that has to be said. I’m convinced this election coming up in a year and a half, it’s going to be about basics. It’s going to be about the fact gas is now a dollar, two dollars more than it was under President Trump. It’s going to be about the fact that they’re teaching critical race theory in school. It’s going to be about the fact that moms and dads actually prefer not to have their fifteen-year-old daughter have to compete against boys in sports. I think those things are actually going to be front and center issues and this election going to be about basic issues here in a year and a half.”
