The Iranian presidential election taking place this week will have a big impact on both the ongoing nuclear talks with the United States and the political direction the Islamic Republic takes. After multiple candidates dropped out yesterday, the assumed presidential front-runner is an ultra-conservative candidate who has been sanctioned by the United States for human rights abuses and is known to distrust the West.
