Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI): We Should Do Everything Possible To Prevent Political Agendas From Affecting The Military
Listen To The Full Interview Below:
Congressman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) joined Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson Show to discuss claims that the U.S. military is going ‘Woke’.
Congressman Gallagher said,
“I just became ranking member of the Military Personnel Subcommittee on the Armed Services Committee, and it is at the top of my agenda. I think it’s sort of bound up in this bigger narrative that the U.S. that the left is pushing right now, that the U.S. military is endemic with white supremacy, which is just not the case. There’s no statistics to support that. And I worry that we’re quickly going down the path of encouraging active duty service members to tattle on each other to judge people based on their bumper stickers. I think we can all agree that extremism, whether it’s jihadist extremism or whether it’s neo-Nazis and has no place in our military. But beyond that, I think we should do everything possible to prevent political agendas from affecting the military. And what you’re seeing with, you know, things like how to be an anti-racist put on the chief of naval. Operations reading list, this 90 day mandatory stand down. where for a day, you know, every military unit had to do a seminar where there were sort of uncritically pushing anti-racist BLM Antifa messages, you know, linking to TED talks that had some pretty either, you know, crazy political views expressed on them. I do worry that this is a problem that we’re seeing and it’s something we need to push back on, because at the end of the day, at least in my experience, the military is the ultimate melting pot. It’s the ultimate colorblind institution where people don’t care about the color of your skin. All they care about is whether you can do the job, whether you can do a certain amount of pull-ups, whether you can accurately and safely discharge your weapon, whether you can carry the radio or the mortar when it’s your turn to do so. That’s all that matters. The military needs to have high standards and by definition needs to be colorblind.”
