Eli Lake said,

“Well, the answer is that they’re not trying to militarily win anything. What they’re trying to do is they’re using military means and placing their own population in great peril to score to to advance a political or a PR kind of war against Israel, where the images of dead civilians, dead children, rubbleised, buildings become fodder for a new round of condemnation that ultimately is aimed at demonizing Israel and delegitimizing its right to defense or self-defense in any way. So it’s using this as a kind of. So it loses every time. I mean, we see it, we’re seeing it this time around. Two commanders of Hamas are are targeted. They they lose infrastructure, their tunnels are destroyed. And all of these kinds of things, which normally when we’re looking at a military conflict, we would say, well, that means they probably lost, but they consider it to be a great victory. And in the end, they’re what they’re really going for is they’re trying to poison Israel’s reputation internationally among its allies and so forth. But the you know, if you think about it, it’s a it’s a sinister and cynical strategy that basically uses the civilians in Gaza, you know, as pawns as just sort of fodder for this PR war. So in that respect, you know, more dead civilians is better for the war aims of Hamas and its regional allies. And, you know, it’s a terrible thing in that way.”
