Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson Show to discuss Texas’s move to lift COVID-19 restrictions to fully reopen businesses and end the state’s mask mandate.

Senator John Cornyn said,

“I think the governor has done a good job managing a difficult situation. And I don’t know what the gold standard is for the Washington, D.C. crowd. Maybe they consider California where there’s shut down their schools, or New York, where Governor Cuomo has sent people to their death in nursing homes with covid-19. We certainly have not had those problems. And I think we’ve taken we’ve taken the lessons from the CDC and the experts to heart, and we’ve learned how to conduct ourselves.”

When asked if he was comfortable with no mask mandate and fully reopening. Senator Cornyn said,

I am. I am. That doesn’t mean that we forget the lessons we’ve learned about social distancing, washing hands, staying home if you’re sick and the like. But I think we’re a far cry from where we were in March of 2020 at the height of the pandemic. And I think we’re on the road to recovery.
