Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY): AG Cuomo Would Be Trying To Take Down Gov. Cuomo Right Now
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) discussed the hypocritical way Gov. Andrew Cuomo is dealing with the various scandals he’s finds himself involved in and why Rep. Zeldin is considering a run against Gov. Cuomo himself.
“There are several people who would be speaking out in a New York minute if it wasn’t Andrew Cuomo, if it was someone they didn’t have a relationship with. And quite frankly, Andrew Cuomo himself, if he wasn’t the one being accused, he would be one of the most outspoken of the group. If you view Andrew Cuomo, the former attorney general, if he was the attorney general right now on the nursing home scandal, he probably would be taking down the governor. And right now on these sexual harassment allegations, Andrew Cuomo’s history is that he would be, if it wasn’t Andrew Cuomo being attacked, he would be very public about how he absolutely believes the victim and that if, just like Brett Kavanaugh, he called for lie detector tests. So you’re seeing a lot of hypocrisy and double standards on many fronts lately from Democrats. And this, unfortunately, is no exception. But kudos, by the way, to the Democrats who are speaking up. There are members of the state legislature who are getting after the nursing home issue. They are getting after what we were talking about with Ron Kim’s press conference that he had yesterday. They’re getting after this issue of this allegation from Lindsey Boylen. As from your initial point, they’re not providing him cover. They they’ve had enough, things feel different right now. This is his third term. He wants a fourth term. And even many of those in his own party are realizing that the reservoir of goodwill is empty and they’re not going down with him.”
“I have been receiving a lot of calls lately. They have picked up in intensity over the course of the last several days, the last couple of weeks. Andrew Cuomo has had his worst few weeks since he’s been in elected office. I’ll say people are not just citing on what we’re talking about here from the last year. They’re talking about how if ‘you don’t win, if you don’t run, I’m out of here. I’m leaving the state. This is it.’ This is about saving our state. And people realize with one party rule in New York City, one party rule in Albany, one party rule in Washington, D.C., that if we just sit back and are silent and discouraged and we just keep getting rolled by those who are in charge, a whole lot of people are going to keep fleeing for states where you provide more freedoms, a lower cost of living, more public safety. And people are given up on New York. I got to tell you that phone calls that are coming in are really fired up. They’re really passionate.”
