Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Odds Of Schumer Ending The Filibuster Are “100%” If Democrats Win In November
Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) spoke with Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson about last nights debate, SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett and Democrats plans to pack the court and end the filibuster if they win in November. Senator Cruz said,
“I think if the Democrats win in November, if we wake up and the government is run by Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, I think one of the very first things Schumer will do is end the filibuster. I put the odds of that at 100 percent. That’s where the Democrats are. If they end the filibuster, it means the Senate minority cannot stop whatever agenda they want to ram through. If they do that, I think one of the first things they’ll tee up is adding two new states to the United States, adding the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. And the reason for doing so is cravenly political and in that the Democrats believe that will immediately elect four new Democratic senators. So if we start January with 50 Democratic senators, I think their objective would be to end the year with 54 to try to entrench their power. And then I believe that that if they have control of Congress and the presidency, they will pack the court. We’ve seen a Democratic president try it before. FDR tried it and his own party stood up and stopped it. I don’t believe they would this time. And Joe Biden refused to answer the question last night. The reason he refused to answer it is I think he knows his party is furious that that President Trump has gotten to nominate three Supreme Court justices. And I think if they have power, they will ram it through and immediately increase the size of the court, which would politicize the court. It would destroy, destroy the independence of the court and it would naturally lead escalation. It would mean the next time Republicans take it. We then expand it further and end. It would it would really do, I think, damage to the institution of the Supreme Court.”
