White House’s Ben Williamson: Democrats’ Threats Won’t Move Trump On Supreme Court Nominee
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Special Assistant To The President Ben Williamson said no matter what Democrats threaten to do to oppose President Trump’s plan to nominate a Supreme Court Justice, it won’t stop him from wanting to fill the seat before Election Day.
“They’ve come out and they’ve said that if the President moved forward ahead with his nominee, they’re going to abolish the filibuster, pack the courts, any number of threats. What I would point out is that they were already threatening to do these things before there was a vacancy before the Supreme Court. There’s really no threat they’ve made that they already weren’t threatening to do about a year ago. Chuck Schumer used the words nothing is off the table in July 2019, and all of a sudden reporters thought it was big news when he said nothing was off the table last weekend. He’s been saying the same thing for a year. So Democrats have threatened to blow up the system with or without a nomination. The President’s not going to be moved by their threats. He’s going to fulfill his constitutional duty.”
