Mollie Hemingway Blasts “NBC News Verification Unit” For Trying To Demonetize Federalist
Mollie Hemingway Senior Editor at The Federalist spoke with Fox News radio’s Guy Benson about an attempt by a NBC News reporter to get the TheFederalist.com deplatformed and demonetized. Hemingway called the ‘NBC News Verification Unit’, “As Orwellian as it sounds.” Hemingway also said,
“I don’t think people realize how delicate First Amendment law is and how much of the privilege that journalists enjoy is not from a strict reading of the First Amendment, but really from a culture that supports the press and the press gave that, to a responsible handling of their position of power. The less responsible they are, the more the more willing people are to limit or circumscribe those First Amendment protections. And so I wish people were thinking much more carefully about how they can pose a threat to the First Amendment protections we enjoy by irresponsible behavior.”
