On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) explained why he thinks congressmen who think the government should be shut down should have their paychecks cut off just like what has happened to the American people.

"All these politicians to say keep the government shut down, well, shut off our paychecks, we're still getting paid. I did the math the other day. We went in March, we went to work ten days, April one day, May zero. If you do the math, it's costing from the taxpayers right at seven million dollars a day. We haven't done anything. Anybody says that either has never had a job and let them cut their paycheck off and see what happens. I think they'd be singing a different tune. It's the only job I know that you get paid for not working and maybe that sends a signal to your listeners that maybe we're not that important."
