Texas Governor Greg Abbott blasted the Dallas County District Attorney for prosecuting salon owner Shelley Luther for violating coronavirus restrictions while at the same time announcing they would not prosecute thieves who steal less than $750 worth of goods.

“The situation is even more egregious than what you just articulated,” Abbott said. “In Dallas County, the District Attorney, the lead prosecuting authority in Dallas County, had previously articulated their position in Dallas County and that is if anybody is caught stealing something of value of $750 and less they are not going to prosecute them, they’re not going to put them in jail, they’re not going to take any legal action against thieves whatsoever if the thief steals something for less than $750,” he continued.
