Rep. Doug Collins of Georgia spoke to Brian today and expressed frustration it’s taken so long to begin distributing doses of hydroxychloroquine, a drug usually used for treating malaria and lupus, to COVID-19 patients.
“You know, it was a shame that it took the president mentioning it and then for it to become a political football which was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in the world but not surprising in this environment,” Collins said. “When you see people, when it works, if you give people who are suffering a chance to have something that is already been on the market and it’s been proven and it shows through, you know, what we’ve seen in other parts of the world then give the doctors the opportunity to do it.”
Rep. Collins recently secured 200,000 doses of the drug for patients in Georgia suffering from the disease.
