Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar joined Brian to react to the HHS Inspector General report, which detailed supply shortages and challenges facing local hospitals.

“Our Inspector General’s office here, they act independently, and they did a phone survey. They picked up the phone and they called out to three hundred hospitals around the country and, you know, big surprise they heard from hospitals saying that they’d like more stuff,” he said.

Secretary Azar said that’s exactly why the president has been mobilizing the entire government since January to increase the numbers of supplies such as PPE, ventilators and testing supplies.

“We’re making huge progress. We’re getting that where it needs to go,” he continued. “So the system really is working here and it’s delivering where it’s needed most so I think that’s what the focus ought to be on.”
