Louisiana congressman and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise said it’s more efficient to test drugs for possible COVID-19 treatments that have already been approved by the FDA, like hydroxychloroquine.

“There’s a few other drugs, whether it’s malaria drugs or there’s other drugs too, and the president’s mentioned some of those… you’re seeing mixed success which is at least a positive sign that there are some things that can treat COVID-19,” he said.

“Drugs that have already been approved by the FDA, it’s a lot quicker to be able to try them on people because they’ve already been pre-approved for other things. You’ve just gotta make sure. Not all of them are working for everybody,” Scalise added.
