Dr. Marty Makary: “This Is Not The Zombie Apocalypse We Were Concerned About”
On FOX Across America with Jimmy Failla, Fox News Medical Contributor Dr. Marty Makary explains why the steps Americans have been taking to fight COVID-19 have led to many lives being saved on a daily basis.
“It is not the zombie apocalypse that many of us were really concerned about. That was a real possibility last week. We were actually thinking Armageddon may be coming our way because of the rate of increase and the lack of any sort of plateauing of any of the numbers. Yesterday was a good day and I’m starting to see an end in sight right now. A lot of lives are going to be saved in the next 20 or 30 flu seasons because people are now doing the right things with their hygiene and washing hands and being careful in social distancing. We’re going to see people next flu season save lives because they’re doing what we in public health had been recommending for years, that people are treated as like we’re telling them to follow the speed limit. Now people are taking it seriously. And and I think we’re seeing the benefits.”
