“We’re Momming Today” about Adult Recess. Yes, it’s a thing. Elizabeth Jernigan, chair of the marketing committee of the Parks and Recreation Department in Greensboro, NC, and also a mom of two, came up with the idea and attracted more than 600 adults for the city’s first event in its Adult Recess series. For Greensboro residents, Friday evening has become an opportunity for multi-tasking and overwhelmed parents to get a babysitter, step away from the phone and computer, and take a trip down memory lane playing tether-ball, hopscotch, and even some pumpkin bowling. Jernigan says one of the best aspects of the event: talking to adults that don’t have kids! We explore the clear need for parents to unwind and play ball! Adult Recess is spreading to parks across the country.
