Former Press Secretary For Two Presidents Discusses War, Scandals and The Press
As the only White House press secretary to be appointed by two presidents, Marlin Fitzwater didn’t just make history, he witnessed it. Working for President Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, he helped both administrations steer through gaffes, scandal and war.
Earlier this week, Fitzwater joined the Rundown and host Jessica Rosenthal to discuss his time as White House press secretary and how that position and the role of the press have changed under the Trump Administration.
The segment however only included some of the many incredible stories and insights he had to share.
On the Fox News Rundown Extra, you’ll hear our full interview with Marlin Fitzwater and more firsthand stories from his experience inside the White House, including how President Reagan sent a subtle but snarky message to the press following the release of one of the Iran-Contra reports.
Fitzwater, who is the author of the new book, ‘Calm Before the Storm: Desert Storm Diaries & Other Stories,’ also goes in to detail about the end of the Cold War and the start of the Persian Gulf War. Both of which he had a front seat for.
