Thornberry: It’s Very Serious, Anytime Intelligence Is Not Based On Objective Facts
“It’s a very big deal if intelligence is being intentionally slanted to get a particular outcome… it’s very serious, anytime intelligence is not based on objective facts on the ground and anytime the analysts cannot make their analysis known, that’s the big deal and that’s why we are looking into it.”
—Chairman Mac Thornberry on the investigation into whether CENTCOM has been giving President Obama the proper intelligence on ISIS
Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Mac Thornberry ( R ) Texas, called into Kilmeade & Friends to discuss the controversy over whether or not CENTCOM has been distorting intelligence reports that have been given to Pres. Obama on ISIS, NATO needing to come together to fight ISIS and democrats joining republicans to pass the House bill halting the refugee program.
Listen here:
How serious is it if CENTCOM is not giving Pres. Obama the proper intelligence on ISIS?
“It’s a very big deal if intelligence is being intentionally slanted to get a particular outcome. That can happen in a variety of ways. There can be pressure to only send up certain kinds of intelligence up the chain or there could be somebody who knows what the people up above him want to hear and shape the intelligence that way. But it’s very serious, anytime intelligence is not based on objective facts on the ground and anytime the analysts cannot make their analysis known, that’s the big deal and that’s why we are looking into it.”
If France invokes Article 5 of NATO, should we support NATO action against ISIS?
“Yes is the short answer. Everybody has to be more serious about dealing with this threat. It is not contained, it is not the JV team and NATO is primarily at risk. It’s a whole separate question whether we ought to go work hand in hand with the Russians, I have real doubts about that. As far as NATO taking this more seriously and the United States taking this more seriously, absolutely.”
