We Could Have Done More to Prevent the Rise Of Islamic Extremism
Author of “88 Days To Kandahar: A CIA Diary” and former CIA station chief for Pakistan and Afghanistan and Former Director of the CIA’s counter-terrorism center Robert Grenier talked about the days after 9/11 and how the war cabinet came up with the template to fight the war against Al-Qaeda. Robert explained that they had to decide on what the political goals were and then build a battle plan around it. He also explained that the United States needs to show the Taliban that we will support the current Afghanistan government and not make the same mistakes that the Soviet Union made.
Robert also said that although we didn’t cause the rise of radical Islam, we could have done more to prevent it.
