They allowed themselves to now be part of the problem instead of President Obama understanding he caused the problem. Make the debt limit and the debt ceiling about debt and deficit. Is it responsible to continue to raise the deficit without legitimate entitlement reframes?
HOUR 1
ALAN DERSHOWITZ, Harvard Law Professor and one of America’s most noted attorneys, talked with Brian about his new book ‘Taking the Stand:’ My Life in Law.’ Dershowitz blended anecdotes about his celebrity clients, like Mike Tyson and Julian Assange, with stories from his childhood growing up in Brooklyn. He spoke about how terrible his grades were in high school, and it wasn’t until college that he began to receive high grades. That educational past has shaped how he teaches at Harvard, saying, “I like to look for and focus on students who come from the bottom up, the ‘diamond in the rough.’ One anecdote he provided was about former client, Leona Helmsley, “The Queen of Mean.” He said she smashed a cup and a saucer onto which a bit of tea had dripped and screamed at the waiter to “clean it up and beg me for your job.”

Former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, MARC THEISSEN, joined Brian and talked about his latest WaPo column, The Tea Party needs a General Washington. Theissen explained that Washington refused to send his troops on suicide missions, picking smaller, winnable fights instead, and defeating the British in a war of attrition. And that is the approach the Tea Party should have taken in the fight against Obamacare.

New York Times best-selling author, BRAD MELTZER, joined Brian in-studio to discuss his new book, ‘History Decoded: Ten Greatest Conspiracies of All Time,’ which is adapted from his hit show on the History Channel, ‘Decoded.’ Brad and Brian also discussed their shared interest and fascination into George Washington’s spy ring. Brian, whose new book, ‘George Washington’s Secret Six’ is based on the Culper Spy Ring, spoke to Brad about the inspiration behind is 2011 historical fiction book, ‘The Inner Circle’ also based on Washington’s spies.
He also talked about the historical perspective he brings to the JFK assignation. ‘If you look at the decade we were in…look at the 60’s, we thought it was the Communists, the Russians & Cubans who killed JFK. If you look at the 70’s during the time of Watergate and Vietnam, it was our own government….look at the 80’s during the rise of ‘The God Father’ movies, it was the mob who did it. So decade by decade, it’s whoever America is afraid of that killed JFK. And that to me is the real historical legacy of JFK. “

GRETCHEN CARLSON, host of ‘The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson’ sat down with Brian to talk about President Obama’s address in the Rose Garden yesterday about the health care website. Gretchen, who didn’t think it was a sincere mea culpa, added that “it’s just embarrassing to have a president give out a 1-800 number.”
