Brian on President Obama and the government shutdown: “The President’s in the middle of a shutdown, and to me, he’s in his element. This is a chance to tee-off on his number one enemy and that is Iran? No. Syria? No. The Muslim Brotherhood? No. Republicans!”

HOUR ONE

LT. COL. ALLEN WEST weighed in on the government shut down.  West said that this is a great time to start looking at what is essential in the government.  “What are the priorities of the federal government?” West asked.  He went on to state that 6.6 percent of the EPA was deemed essential, which is a little over 1,000 of the 16,000 people. “This is a great time for us to start looking and saying ‘What can we do to trim back the government?’”

HOUR TWO

FOX’s Chief Congressional Correspondent MIKE EMANUEL explained why the Republicans might have more leverage when it comes to the debt ceiling.  “As we’re approaching 17 trillion dollars, a lot of the American public says, ‘Okay, we’ve got to do something about this.’ It’s an unfathomable number.  So there’s a lot of thought that people will accept spending cuts, that they think spending cuts may be reasonable,” he said.

HOUR THREE

Brian sat down with ANN ROMNEY, wife of former Governor & presidential candidate of Mitt Romney. Ann is author of the new cookbook The Romney Family Table: Sharing Home-Cooked Recipes & Favorite Traditions.  She talked about the flood of emotions she felt writing the book; from her own childhood and those of her sons.  She also discussed the importance of family time at the dinner table, “Times get busy and parents are running around, but it’s not just the recipe, it’s not the food, it’s the conversation that takes place around the food.”

Brian also asked her if she thought her husband would be a better leader for today’s country.  “I am 100 % convinced that Mitt would have been a much better president for this country, economically, domestically and in an international sense. What was missed, was the heart of this man and how much he cares about what’s going on.” Ann also weighed in on the current government shutdown, giving both sides of Washington an ‘F.’

Polygamous Anchors & Open Relationships!  America’s Newsroom co-anchors Martha MacCallum and Bill Hemmer joined Brian for their weekly hit.  You would think it would have gotten a little awkward when Bill talked about his new work wife, Alisyn Camerota, but Martha handled it like a pro.  Martha admitted she told Alisyn Bill is a great person and that, “Bill and I have an open work marriage  and that we are willing to share with other people.  But I did warn her that my real marriage is not open and not to go there!”
